"Online games, then and now", or "Why I became such a misanthropist"

Hello everyone.

Today we're going to explore another side of this blog.
Staying true to the name itself, here's our first "rant" post.

From the fingertips of the boss-man himself.
Enjoy....I guess...?

Oh god...WHERE DO I START ?!

We've all played some form of Multiplayer Online games.
Whether its shooters, MMORPGs, or a MOBA game.

I remember a time when there was fun, teamwork,
and something at least remotely similar to mutual respect.
People would talk about strategies, try different combinations or loadouts,
races, classes, whatever.
It was glorious watching any community blossom, people exploring their potential.
It was a time of amazing online gameplay...or maybe more than that.
It was a time of bonding, of people getting to know other awesome people online, over a game.
They kept in touch, they chatted out of game, they emailed each other, heck,
I remember a guy who got some computer parts shipped to him from a whole different country by a friend from the same guild.
Everyone was happy, they shared these cool new worlds together, they explored the magnificent stories laid out for them,
they truly became friends, and brothers in arms. The name "Guildies" used to mean something.

But then...came the "new kids".
This new generation of..."Gamers", doesn't care about any of what I've just said.
All that they seem to care about is showing off, being the best at the cost of everything else, for their own selfish reasons.
Teamwork ceased to exist, people no longer bonded, everything went to fucking HELL.
Fun got taken out of the equation, all that mattered was how big ones E-Peen is.
And along with it, came the Blame-Games, the Flaming and whatnot...
Advice and recommendations became replaced with hasted insults, intentional "Trolling", intentional wiping of raid parties and such.
Instead of having fun together, we started hating each other.

For ~ no ~ reason.

*huff...pant...sigh*

Hm...that...wasn't so bad...was it ?

*coughcough*

 See you next time !
